Garden Project

A lot has happened since our report in the June edition of the newsletter.

Most important of all,  the garden was officially opened on 20 June.  The current opening times for our garden are now included in a leaflet entitled "Gardens in Thornbury Open to the Public" which is available from the local tourist information centre. Since then our garden has been included in Thornbury's entry for both the regional competition for Britain in Bloom on 21 July and the national competition on 3 August.  We were also judged on 28 July for our entry in the neighbourhood award scheme.   Barbara,  Glenys,  John,  Robin and SPI,  who all helped to tidy the area before the judging,   await the outcome with interest.

The water butt has now been installed as has the bee hotel.  The grass sown earlier in the year has at last come through and the whole area is now looking very attractive.   Thanks to some further generous donations we are now in a position to start work on the patio area,  to seed a few additional small areas and to do a little more planting.  In addition we have been given two wooden benches and need to paint them before putting them in place.
