These two verses give an account of how Jesus describes the road to heaven.
' The road to Hell is wide', he says, ' and many people will take it'.

He is saying to us that there are no short cuts to God. We live today in a world of Instant everything, be it food, communications or what ever. The world seems flooded with sure fire, quick and easy methods to give a successful live, and many people fall for it and expect instant happiness. Jesus is saying, don't fall for the advertising hype and the expectations of modern instant technologies. The way to life, and God, is vigorous and requires total attention. There is no quick fix, over the counter, instant spirituality.
